The performance and achievement of tourism sector in Mizoram is still very modest compared to other N.E. States and in view of the vast potentiality for adventure tourism, eco tourism, the peace and tranquility and the salubrious climate that the state processes. The state received 57,639 domestic tourists and 675 foreign tourists during 2009-10, the number of domestic tourists arrival has increased from 56,793 during the previous year. The state Government managed to earn Rs. 123.50 lakhs from Tourist Lodge, Highway Restaurant and Picnic Spot during 2009-10 as against Rs. 111.17 lakhs in the previous year.

The State Government is maintaining 41 nos. of Tourists spots, 36 nos. of Tourist Lodges containing 339 nos. of rooms and 739 nos. of beds. The revenue collected by the Tourism Department amounts to Rs. 123.51 lakhs during 2009-10 as against Rs. 110.17 lakhs in the previous year (2008-09).
